The Dirty Dozen Brass Band

The Dirty Dozen has been up for big challenges with its bracing innovative blend of traditional New Orleans sounds and modern jazz sensibilities. The ensemble has recorded with artists from Dizzy Gillespie to Elvis Costello to Widespread Panic. Currently featuring an 8 musicians set up the band is comprised of: Gregory Davis on trumpet, Kevin Harris on tenor saxophone, Roger Lewis on baritone saxophone, Efern Towns on trumpet, Kirk Joseph on sousaphone, Revert Andrews on trombone, Terence Higgins on drums and Jamie McLean in guitar..

Leo Nocentelli with Little Hercules

In addition to the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Leo Nocentelli will bring his funk while being backed up by Little Hercules. Known throughout the music industry as the funkiest fast fingered guitarists there is Nocentelli is widely recognized for his guitar playing for The Meters, New Orleans legendary funk band. Guitar Magazine calls Noceentelli: “One of the best rhythm players of all time, and known for precise execution of syncopated funk figures, such as his signature “Cissy Strut” licks." It has been since the second year of the Sunset Concert Series since Leo has graced Telluride with his funky guitar riffs. Nocentelli will also be performing at the Telluride Bluegrass festival with the New Orleans Social Club, giving us a sneak preview of what is in store.

Little Hercules formed in the small Rocky Mountain railroad town of Minturn, Colorado in 1998. Little Hercules was originally noticed by the Grammy nominated band, Liquid Soul, and toured with the band beginning in the year 2000. Life Time Grammy Achievement winner, and Funk pioneer, Leo Nocentelli (the Meters) started using Little Hercules as his Colorado back-up band in 2001.
